“Design empowers industry and innovation leads the future.” As the highest industrial design event in Quanzhou, the first Zayton Cup international design competition upholds the goal of promoting "made in Quanzhou" to "intelligent manufacturing in Quanzhou". In this golden and fruitful autumn season, a feast of wisdom and innovation is presented. Erythrina blossoms attract the phoenix, just as the competition, based in Quanzhou, attracts excellent design resources around the world, leading the ancient Zayton city to meet an innovative future.

Experts were invited to enhance the level of the competition.
We have invited global industrial design leader Ron Nabarro and famous Danish industrial designer. Mathis Heller experienced design leader. Timothy Jacob Jensen, Bernd Brüssing, the Design Director of PRODESIGN Co. Wen shunfang, vice president of China industry daily, Wang Xiajun, a famous ceramic artist in Taiwan, Zhou Ligang, founder of Bole design, Zhou Hongtao, Professor of design and creativity College of Tongji University, and Liu Liwei, director of process design department of Taiwan University of Arts and technology.As well as universities, well-known enterprises and industry celebrities from different regions and dimensions will be invited to conduct high-level selection and strictly enhance the level of awards.
Strong fit
The competition is based on Quanzhou’s advantaged industries.
With the theme of "design empowers industry, innovation leads the future", the competition set up two groups: product group and concept group. Focusing on Quanzhou's advantaged manufacturing industry, the competition collected innovative design works around the whole world from five categories: textile and footwear; building materials and home furnishings; intelligent equipment; cultural and creative gifts; and comprehensive category. The products involved kinds of shoes and clothing, bags, intelligent wear, plumbing, sanitary ware, electrical appliances, building materials, production equipment, construction machinery, special equipment, fitness equipment, tea, porcelain and incense, wood and stone carving, rattan iron craft, food and drinks, umbrella, etc. The competition gathered the world's advanced innovation wisdom, and enhance the competitiveness of enterprises with excellent design. The competition committee arranged to visit colleges, universities and companies in Quanzhou to promote the competition, and received enthusiastic response. A toal of 1069 design works from Quanzhou were received.
Wide participation
The competition called for entry from home and abroad.
Based in Quanzhou and looking around the world, the organization committee has called for entry for universities and design institutions at home and abroad and have received entry from more than 100 universities at home and abroad, such as China Academy of Art, Tianjin Academy of Arts, Lu Xun Academy of Art, Shenyang Ligong University, National Taiwan University of Arts, Tatung University, Chung Hua University and I-Shou University. College students are enthusiastic for the publicity of the event. At the same time, the organization committee also got in contact with a number of overseas design institutions and designers to help promote the competition, and the response was positive. Zayton Cup set off an upsurge in the overseas design field.

Influence of industries were expanded.
The competition was strongly supported by the world design organization (WDO), and was promoted on its official website to further expand its international influence. The organizatuon committee has carried out in-depth cooperation with China Industrial Press, China Europe International Design Culture Association, defortec, PRO Design, IPDD, Fujian Industrial Culture Association, Tainan Art Design Association, Shenyang Industrial Design Association, etc., to promote the brand penetration of the competition in various industries and improve the richness of entries.
Work of evaluation will be launched soon
Next, the Zayton Cup international design competition will proceed from the perspectives of social form, technological innovation, industrial demand, consumption trend, user experience and other aspects. After round-1 judging, round-2 judging and final judging, the finalists will be selected. Recently, 50 pieces of product group and concept group (100 pieces in total) will be selected respectively.
